Foreword for Oh, So Emo!
"All of us want to be happy. It is positive emotions like kindness and compassion that make us happy while it is negative emotions like anger that prevents us from being happy. If we can practice working on our positive emotions from a very young age, we can grow up having mental peace and eventually contribute towards a better world.
As students of Buddhism, we learn how to cultivate positive emotions and eliminate negative emotions by applying the appropriate antidotes such as loving kindness and patience. By doing so we can ourselves become happy and eventually contribute towards making our society peaceful.
nI this book, "Oh So, Emo!", Ms. Gayatri delves into the realm of human emotions and introduces them ot the young minds aimed at eventually helping them to deal with their destructive emotions appropriately and strengthen their positive emotions:
I commend the author for her sincere initiative and I hope that this book will help children, and old people alike, to pay more attention to improving themselves from within."

On Oh, So Emo!:
The best gift for future generations is to nurture young ones properly. H.H. the Dalai Lama identifies the importance of the development of both the brain and the heart. In line with this great vision of a true gem of the world, that is H.H. the Dalai Lama, Ms. Gayatri ji, in her book, ‘Oh So Emo’, deftly carves out a skilled and compassionate blueprint to give an amazing shape to young children with the education of compassion, wisdom and courage. The book also sets out how to nurture these young minds to become future leaders with qualities such as a bent for inclusivity and a proclivity for dialogue, in order to bring genuine peace on earth on the basis of the wisdom to see the interdependency of oneself and others, including that of the planet earth, our only home. It is hoped more and more authors are inspired by Ms. Gayatri ji to pen such valuable children’s books.

I quite liked it. [Gayatri has] finally found your calling. Makes you expectantly wait for the next. Was reminded of "The Wizard of Oz". The book, not the film. I hope here will be some illustrations.

On Devi & the Battle of Meghadhanush:
A delight to read, a book for all ages! Gayatri has wrought an extraordinary, fantastical tale of coming to terms with loss and loneliness in which the navarasas, the nine emotions, manifest as guiding companions. This tale is woven with familial love, and brings to mind the crazy, comic malevolence of Roald Dahl while drawing on ideas inspired by our epics. This is a story for India and the world of the here and now.

On Anitya
'I read this book like I would read the sky, not knowing where I'd be taken next, but assured that I'd be protected by the gentle
and incisive voice of the writer like the sky does, changing every moment but never talling on me.
I read this book with gratitude. Gayatri Jayaraman has written a book that has given many of my unarticulated emotions the dignity of understanding.'

On Devi & The Battle of Meghadhanush
How do we teach our children to reach for the skies while being rooted in tradition? How do we help our children to reflect and think through their emotions? Gayatri's wonder-filled fable about a young girl called Devi, her joys and sorrows, and her nine companions does this in great style. An adventure story set in the present that anyone who has dreamt of being elsewhere will enjoy, identify with, and learn from. A love letter to childhood, day dreams, and imagination.

On Oh, So Emo!
The techniques outlined in this book teach children Emotional Regulation early on, which helps identify and prevent issues from developing later. Emotional Regulation is not only proven to enhance mental and physical health but is a better predictor of success than IQ. It adopts an engaging and informative format, a combination of a story and guide. This book can not only be used by children directly, but is also for parents and teachers, who can internalise and demonstrate the skills, as well as work in collaboration with the children.
