Terms of Service, Methodology, & Privacy

• Shamah | शम: is not a clinical diagnostic centre and we do not participate in prescribing or advocating or administering the use of clinical testing, psychological or psychometric testing, pharmaceutical drugs or clinical diagnoses at any level. We only use talk therapy, Western counselling psychology, Buddhist and Indic psychology interventions such as reflection, contemplation, mindful awareness, meditation, breath work and yoga.

• All appointments are conducted online only unless specified otherwise in writing.

• All disputes can be settled as per Indian law and jurisdiction only.

• All appointments are non-transferrable.

• All appointments start on time and end on time. If you are late, the appointment still ends at the end of the hour allotted for it as delays affect other clients.

• We do not offer compensatory sessions for no shows and delays. 

• In case you are unable to access GMeet due to any constraints, you may send us an email to let us know a preferred mode [Zoom, WebEx, Whatssap] and we will do our best to schedule the call for you accordingly. 

• The Client Intake Form is mandatory. Sessions cannot be confirmed unless the forms are completed.

• All sessions are confidential and are not recorded and are never shared or shareable. 

• Socialising and engagement with your therapist outside sessions is not encouraged or ethically permitted.

• Shamah | शम: is a fully private practice and we do not engage in trading of data, personal, financial, health-related, with any collaborators at any level.

Essential Client Undertakings:

• I understand that my appointment with Shamah | शम:  will be conducted online via a tele consultation module.

• I am comfortable with the use of GMeet or another suitable medium as a video conference technology for the tele consultation session and Shamah | शम:  (service provider) has offered me the choice of another technology service that I might be more familiar/comfortable with if I should so choose one.

• I understand that a tele consultation session has potential benefits including easier access to care and the convenience of meeting from a location of my choosing.

• I understand that I will not be in the same room as my service provider.

• I understand there are potential risks to this technology, including interruptions, unauthorized access, and technical difficulties. I understand that my service provider or I can discontinue the tele consultation session if it is felt that the videoconferencing connections are not adequate for the situation.

• I have reviewed the qualifications and credentials of my attending counsellor and acknowledge that they have clearly been listed on the website prior to my booking a session. I have had the opportunity to ask questions about the credentials and am applying for the consultation voluntarily and without reserve.

• I am aware that laws governing mental health, alternative healing, therapeutic practice and supporting practices differ from country to country and that in opting for an international tele consultation I may be choosing services that don't necessarily meet compliance standards in my particular jurisdiction or region of residence or accessing the service.

• I hereby waive my right to legal intervention in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction of my place of residence or access of the services in case of dispute.

• I acknowledge that I have been advised the service provider does not make any claim of a medical, diagnostic or prescriptive service and that I should seek consultation with clinically trained providers that follow laws in accordance with my jurisdiction of residence or of accessing service in advance.

• I acknowledge that I intend to use the consultation of the  service provider as supplemental to any authorised clinical diagnosis as required and not as/in lieu of clinically mandated diagnostic or prescriptive interventions.

• I acknowledge that I fully and freely engage the service of my own will and take responsibility for the adoption of techniques interventions and therapeutic practices that are not legislated by the law in my domain of residence or of accessing the service.

• I acknowledge that I waive my right to dispute the terms and conditions of service as well as my right to compensation for any service provided. 

• I accept jurisdiction of the laws and courts of India where the service provider is registered in case of any legal dispute.

• I accept that terms of service voluntarily and without reserve.
